LADYBUGS EXPERIMENT

Between 1995 and 1999 a group of students of Javiera Carrera Highschool conceived the idea and designed an experiment that would be put to tests
in space.

During almost five years, the students, supported by teacher of Biology Ivonne Martínez, outlined techniques and methodologies to feed ladybugs before and during the first hours of orbital flight of the space shuttle Columbia.

They also defined the temperature, humidity and pressure conditions of the transport compartment; the the amount of ladybugs and pulgones.
The experience in space helped to prove that ladybugs are still natural predators that killed pulgones in 0 gravity environment.
